How to Duplicate, Export or Share a Single NexaTabs Workspace
NexaTabs can duplicate a workspace in one click and export a single workspace as its own JSON file. Importing that file always adds a new workspace, so nothing you already have is overwritten.
Your Current Challenges
Rebuilding the same starter set of tabs for every new client or project
Wanting to hand one project's links to a colleague without sending everything
Full backups feel too heavy when only one workspace matters
Worrying that importing a file will overwrite existing workspaces
Unclear what a shared workspace file contains
Use Cases
Freelancers who start each client from the same template workspace
Researchers who branch one reading list into two directions
Teams that hand a set of links to a colleague who also uses NexaTabs
People moving one project to another browser profile
Anyone who wants a file copy of one important workspace
How NexaTabs Helps
NexaTabs gives you three ways to copy a single workspace, all local to your browser.
1. Duplicate workspace
Open the workspace's menu in the NexaTabs popup and choose Duplicate workspace. You get a saved copy with the same tabs, notes and bookmarks, named "Name (copy)", then "Name (copy 2)" for the next one. The copy starts closed and unpinned. If the original uses Accounts (same site · multiple logins), the copy keeps the Accounts setting but not the live signed-in sessions, so sign in again where a site asks.
2. Export workspace
In the same menu, choose Export workspace. NexaTabs saves that one workspace as a JSON file with its name, tabs, notes, bookmarks and Accounts setting. The file is readable and not encrypted.
3. Import workspace
In Settings (popup or dashboard), choose Import workspace and pick the file. It is always added as a new workspace and never overwrites or merges into an existing one. If the name is taken, the new one gets an "(imported)" suffix. NexaTabs skips invalid URLs, applies the Accounts site rule, keeps at most 500 tabs, and tells you what it skipped.
What this is not
- Not cloud sharing: you move the file yourself.
- Not the full backup: Export backup and Import backup handle all NexaTabs data, and Import backup replaces everything after you confirm.
- Not a copy of logins, cookies or page content.

Step By Step Guide
1. Open the NexaTabs popup and find the workspace.
2. To copy it in place, open its menu and choose Duplicate workspace, then rename the copy.
3. To create a file, open the same menu and choose Export workspace.
4. Before sharing the file, check the workspace notes for anything private.
5. On the receiving browser, open Settings and choose Import workspace.
6. Read the confirmation: it shows the new workspace name and any skipped URLs.
Why NexaTabs

Frequently Asked Questions
Will importing a workspace file overwrite my workspaces?
No. Import workspace always adds a new workspace. Only Import backup, the full backup, replaces all NexaTabs data, and it asks you to confirm first.
Does a duplicate keep my Accounts logins?
It keeps the Accounts setting, not the live signed-in sessions. Sign in again in the copy where a site asks.
What is inside the exported file?
The workspace name, colour, tabs, notes, bookmarks and Accounts setting, as readable JSON. No passwords, cookies or page content. Anyone with the file can read it.
Why did some tabs not come in?
Invalid or unsupported URLs are skipped, an Accounts workspace keeps only its own site, and one imported workspace holds at most 500 tabs. NexaTabs tells you how many were skipped.
